Busy Weeks Lie Ahead for Volunteers in Rwanda

We received an email from A Partnership in Caring Society Chair Maria van Vonderen in Butare. She and Carolyn Rideout are settling in to Rwanda and making plans for the next few weeks. One of their stops next week will be the ADAR orphanage (Association for the Development of Blind people and others handicapped in Rwanda). It is an orphanage that provides a stable home for thirty physically and mentally handicapped children in Butare, Rwanda; supported financially by A Partnership in Caring Society. There are also plans to visit Cathy Emerson, a Canadian who lives in Northern Rwanda who is with PREFER (Poverty Reduction, Education and Family Empowerment in Rwanda). PREFER offers a number of programs including a street children’s program. And they will spend time with the Benebikira Sisters, who operate a number of projects including schools and health centres, projects A Partnership in Caring Society have supported.
